Mackenzie-Childs Cookware

Even at first glance, it is easy to see the amount of work and level of artisanship that goes into making each Mackenzie-Childs cookware piece. This cookware features a combination of intricate designs, ornate details and high quality materials, which make Mackenzie-Childs a great addition to your kitchen. Each cookware piece presents a distinctive look that originates from New York’s Finger Lakes region, which sets the brand apart, as well as serves as a decorative element in your kitchen. Style wise, the fanciful shapes, elaborate patterns and playful colors on the Mackenzie cookware pieces work well in complementing traditional and vintage kitchen design themes, or serve to add contrast in modern and contemporary kitchen motifs.

Mackenzie-Childs cookware pieces, which include stockpots, saucepans, sauté pans, casseroles and tea kettles are available from Williams-Sonoma. The cookware comes in two basic designs: the flower market and the courtly check. The flower market cookware line from Mackenzie-Childs has complex and rich floral illustration transfers with hand finishing and a gleaming glaze coating. The courtly check cookware line, on the other hand, comes with a black-and-white check pattern that the artisans paint in by hand. This almost ensures that each piece of cookware in the courtly check line has a unique nuance that makes it truly one-of-a-kind. Just like the flower market pieces, the courtly check cookware line from Mackenzie-Childs has a gleaming glaze finish.

Apart from the designs on the exterior of the Mackenzie-Childs cookware, another distinctive feature on the pieces are the knobs on their lids. You can choose from several designs including knobs in the shape of a sparrow, sparrow’s nest with eggs, flower, daffodil and sculptural knobs in the tea kettles. The knobs are stainless-steel with bronze finish, which is the same material as the rims on the lid. All of the Mackenzie-Childs cookware pieces have stainless-steel handles that are likewise in the same bronze finish as the knobs, which allows for a smooth transport from your cooktop or oven to your table. Additional designs such as brass and acrylic accents are available on the tea kettles that also have swinging brass handles with wooden grips for easy pouring.

The Mackenzie-Childs cookware offers a pleasant dimension to your cooking experience as its classic and artistic appearance makes your time spent when preparing meals for your family more satisfying. More than just look good, however, all the cookware pieces have sturdy, heavy-gauge steel beneath their enamel coating for enduring strength and superior thermal conductivity. Each piece in the Mackenzie-Childs cookware line is oven safe up to 400-degrees Fahrenheit. Apart from the oven, this cookware also works well on stove tops and is compatible with induction cooking. The heavy-gauge stainless-steel body of the Mackenzie cookware also gives it just the right amount of heft for better stability when cooking and for maximum durability.

The Mackenzie-Childs cookware line comes in different sizes and capacities. The saucepan measure 8 inches in diameter, 7 1/2-inches high and has a 2 1/2-quart capacity. Slightly larger is the sauté pan with a 3-quart capacity and measuring 10 1/4 inches in diameter and 6 3/4-inches high. The Mackenzie-Childs casserole comes in two-size options with the smaller one having a 3-quart capacity, measuring 10 1/4 inches in diameter and 6 1/4-inches high. The larger casserole has a 5-quart capacity measuring 12 inches in diameter and 7 inches high and weighing. The large Mackenzie-Childs stockpot has a 7-quart capacity measuring 9 2/4 inches in diameter and 10 3/4 inches high. Each piece weighs 10 pounds with its lid, except for the 11-pound larger casserole.

Knowing the dimensions of the Mackenzie-Childs cookware also gives you an idea how much space it will take up in your kitchen. It will also be a good idea for you to consider whether to store them out in the open since they make great kitchen decorative pieces or if you plan to keep them in drawers or cabinets. As with other cookware with enamel coating, the ideal maintenance for Mackenzie-Childs cookware is washing by hand with mild soap and drying them immediately before storage.
