Frosty Cherry-Pomegranate Sangria
This frosty sangria blends dry red wine, tart pomegranate and cranberry juices, and dark sweet cherries into a jewel-toned slushy with just enough sweetness. For a mocktail version, you can use pomegranate juice, cranberry juice or a mixture in place of the wine.
Ingredients
- 4 oz. (125 ml) dry red wine, such as merlot
- 2 oz. (60 ml) pomegranate juice
- 1 oz. (30 ml) cranberry juice
- 1 cup (5 1/2 oz./155 g) frozen dark sweet cherries, plus 1 cherry for garnish
- 1/2 oz. (15 ml) simple syrup
- 1/4 tsp. kosher salt
- 1 cup (8 oz./250 g) ice
- Pomegranate seeds for garnish
- Blackberries for garnish
Directions
In a blender, combine the wine, pomegranate juice, cherry juice, cherries, simple syrup, salt and ice. Blend on high speed until the mixture reaches a slushy consistency, 30 seconds to 1 minute. Pour into a chilled coupe glass, garnish with the pomegranate seeds and blackberries and serve. Makes 1 drink.
